Tile Adhesive vs Cement Mortar
A factory-produced tile adhesive offers controlled polymer content, graded fillers, water retention and testable adhesion. Traditional cement-sand mortar can create a thick supporting bed or screed, but its direct bond varies with batching, sand quality, water, slurry and workmanship. Use mortar to establish levels where the detail requires a bed; use a classified adhesive as the controlled bond coat for dense tile, walls, exteriors, membranes and large formats.
Adhesive does not remove the need for a sound and flat substrate. Cement mortar does not automatically replace a C2, T, E or S1 performance requirement. A premium assembly may use both materials in separate, correctly defined layers.
Tile Adhesive vs White Cement
White cement is a binder, not a complete tile adhesive. It does not by itself provide the polymer modification, rheology, slip control, open-time performance or deformability expected from a classified professional product. White cement remains useful in formulated mortars, grouts and specialist compounds, but using neat white cement slurry as a universal fixing system is difficult to control.

Large-format adhesives are formulated around ridge collapse, bed thickness, sag control, working time and support beneath heavy pieces. The substrate for large tile must be flatter, and the installation normally requires directional combing, back-buttering and frequent transfer checks.

Indoor vs Outdoor Adhesives
Dry interior work generally exposes the bond to limited thermal cycling and water. Exterior floors, walls, balconies and façades experience sun, rain, temperature movement and faster skinning during application. Use C1 only where C1 is appropriate

Use C2 and deformable grades intelligently
C2 is a strong starting point for low-absorption tile. T is valuable on walls, E on large or detailed layouts and S1 where format or movement creates additional strain. S2 should be reserved for systems that genuinely require high deformability.
Select white adhesive for light stone
